# Payment methods and types

Bunny distinguishes between payment methods and payment types. A payment type specifies *how* a payment is being made:

* Credit card
* Wire transfer
* ACH
* Manual

A payment method is stored on an account and holds the details about how customer pays with a specific payment type. For example, if a customer has a a recurring subscription that is being paid every month using a credit card, the customers' account in Bunny has a payment method that holds the credit cards's number, expiration date and security code.

Additionally, the payment method holds information about the last successful payment, error codes and which payment plugin it uses.
