Price lists

Price lists hold the commercial details of a plan. You can create multiple price lists for different ways of charging for the plan, for example:

  • $100 per user annually

  • $10 per user monthly

Here, we are offering two different prices and giving a discount for a one-year commitment – or a penalty for short-term commitment, depending on how you look at it. You could also have price lists with pricing in different currencies.

Trials

Whether or not a trial is allowed for a plan is controlled on the price list. For example, you would typically offer a trial when a customer signs up online for a monthly rate. But when you are working on a larger deal with annual payments, a self-service trial may not be so relevant.

Without a trial period, a subscription would start billing the customer when it is created. The trial period postpones that even by a number of days after which the subscription is either canceled or automatically activated and billing starts.

Price adjustments

Price adjustments are default values used by the quote builder for particular price list. For example, you can specify that a subscription's prices are increased by 5% every time the product renews or on a particular month.

You can also specify that the subscription inherits product catalog pricing upon renewal. By default, all subscriptions not created via the quote builder will automatically use this setting.

Deprecating price lists

As your product catalog evolves, you will be retiring plans and price lists and creating new ones. In this transition, there are a few things to consider.

  • Sales-led customers are guaranteed the original pricing until the end of their term

  • Service-service customers typically signed terms that forces them to accept price changes, but could also be grandfathered on their old pricing until they decide to change plans or billing period

From the ... menu on the price list, you can choose to deprecate the price list, which brings up the following modal.

If you have a marketing page where users can sign up for a trial, you are most likely referencing the price list's code in the API call. To ensure uninterrupted signups, you can let Bunny copy the code over to the new price so you can avoid having to perfectly time updating your marketing website.

Charges

A price list can have one or more charges, which is where the actual prices are defined.
