Disputes

Disputes in Bunny: chargebacks imported from Stripe, their states, and what Bunny does to the invoice and subscription when a dispute is lost.

A dispute is raised when a customer asks their bank to reverse a card payment, also known as a chargeback. Bunny imports disputes from Stripe as they’re opened, updated and closed, and lists them under Billing > Disputes.

Bunny only receives disputes if your Stripe webhook includes the charge.dispute.created, charge.dispute.updated and charge.dispute.closed events.

Each dispute shows the payment and account it belongs to, the disputed amount, the dispute fee, the reason given by the bank, and when it was created and closed.

A dispute is open while the bank reviews it, and closes as won or lost.

When a dispute is lostLink to When a dispute is lost section

You decide what Bunny does when a dispute is lost, per entity, on the Disputes tab under Settings > Entities.

Subscription action

  • Do nothing - Leave the subscription as it is.
  • Do not auto-renew - Let the subscription run to the end of its term without renewing.
  • Cancel immediately - Cancel the subscription on the day the dispute is lost.

Invoice action

  • Do nothing - Leave the invoice as it is.
  • Unpay and refund - Mark the invoice as unpaid again.
  • Credit note and refund - Issue a refund credit note for the invoice.

If the disputed payment covered more than one invoice or subscription, Bunny takes no action and you resolve the dispute manually.
