# Leads

Leads are unqualified marketing contacts that your sales and marketing organizations are using to find qualified prospects. Once you start focusing on a lead and mapping out the organization with multiple contacts or sending out quotes, the lead should be converted to an account.

### Converting a lead

When you convert a lead, it becomes an account with a contact associated with it. At this point the original lead is frozen and you can no longer make any changes to it. The lead still remains in the system for reporting purposes.

You can access the converted account via the `...` menu.
